So this post will be a collection of photos on the Haupstrasse during our time here. Let me again emphasize how fantastic our location is. We are right on the Bismarkplatz, which is a town square and a hub for public transport. By the way, we used the heck out of public transport in Amsterdam and Paris, but haven’t needed it here as we are right where the action is. The Haupstrasse begins across the street from the Bismarkplatz. For those who do not know the Haupstrasse (main street) is a pedestrian zone with shops and restaurants. And although most German towns have one, Heidelberg is one of the more famous ones.
City Hall
This store is aimed at tourists, I promise you Germans do not walk down the street in clothes like this. That being said, the girls working at our hotel desk and also some barmaids wear uniforms that look similar to this.
Yummy bakery
Cute flower shop
Crepes stand
Lindt chocolate store. AKA chocolate heaven. 🙂
So many adorable boutique shops
We went to a great restaurant last night called, in English, Beer Pretzel. Here is the German on our beer mugs.
View from the old bridge last night. The castle looks great all lit up.
One more thing I got a kick out of here in Germany. This being the home of the Mercedes Benz, I noticed that the garbage trucks, delivery vehicles, and even taxis have the Mercedes symbol on the front. Cool!!
Even a city bus!
